What Is Isolation?

Isolation is defined as “the process of isolating or being isolated: separating someone from others.” Most people use this word broadly, but the content of it dives deeper when centralizing it about the psychological effects on a human. Isolation, for a human, can occur in multiple ways. One of which is forced isolation by a parent, relative, or kidnapper. Another being yourself: it usually happens when the person uses isolation as a coping mechanism or they have a depressive or anxious state of mind.

Isolation isn’t just a wave of loneliness, it’s much more complicated. It can alter the human mind--even animals! Society is constructed by each other, we learn from others. For instance, we learn how to walk by our parents. We learn how to read or write by our teachers. We learn how to solve math problems by our tutors. We even learn from our peers, friends, and siblings. Humanity is built by each other, and when someone isn’t able to connect or communicate with another human, that person will lose their sanity, especially if they are isolated at a young age.
