Explorer ’ – an interactive trail experience bringing the stories Tamworth to life using location-based media , and 3D holographic characters from its 1,000 + year history , collectibles , original themed selfie-filters , and more .
Tamworth Castle increased its visitor numbers and satisfaction ratings , leading to a sustained increase in ticket price and extended dwell time . It also doubled average spend in the shop , increased orders in the café , and received the ‘ Best Told Story ’ accolade from Historic England .
Meanwhile , ‘ Lichfield Time Travellers ’ reimagined history in the streets of the City . Audiences use the live map to explore the centre and find the AR Time Portals . The portals create a ‘ rip in time ’, and 3D virtual people from the city ’ s past are pulled into the modern world to share their stories .
Created with local partners , museums and the Cathedral , this experience gives visitors a new way to discover the historic city , and drives footfall to key sites .
