Defibrillator - Due to a medical situation at a DTU theory session , the committee voted the purchase of a Defibrillator for dedicated club use at events and DTU practical days . Let ’ s trust we will never have to put this life saving device to its use !
Meetings – The clubs venue officer , Peter van Riel has been very pro-active in putting together quality monthly guest speakers taking in a variety of subjects . One of the most successful speakers was Linda Schlencker from Self Drive Adventures . Linda ’ s amazing presentation highlighted the South African Self Drive holidays . This has resulted in many members booking trips in 2017 and 2018 .

In Summary ,
The President ’ s role within any club or organisation can only be successful with the assistance and support of fellow club members . I have had the honour and privilege of working with 2 great committees over the last 2 years , both working together in a team environment . There is one other factor - most important which has been a great assistance to me over this period ; this is Pam and my family providing their ongoing support . Thank you to my loving family and to all club members for your support over the last 2 years .

The DTU ran 9 courses with a total of 72 students in the 2016 / 17 financial year .
We have lost a valuable members of the DTU due to retirement this financial year . I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian Salmon for his contribution towards to the DTU over the years .
I would like to welcome Peter Thomas and Ed Reddick into the DTU . They will be starting as Trainee instructors in the 2017 / 18 financial year .
We will be reviewing all the course that are run by the DTU in the next few months to ensure they are in compliance with FWDV ’ s guidelines as well as relevant to the current demographic of the club .
