VENUE OFFICER Thanks for giving me the opportunity over the past 12 months to act as your venue officer. In this rewarding role I was responsible for ensuring the venue was set up for each meeting including seating, front desk/entrance, magazine distribution, raffle prizes, guest speakers and of course ensuring that you were provided with meals/refreshments at our meetings. A special thank you to Lael, Joy, Robyn & Gordon with various helpers in the kitchen. To Brian for monitoring the sign in book, Colin for conducting the raffle with help from Robyn & others. To Doug & Brian for magazine distribution and all others who helped ensure smooth meetings. Prizes worth over $4000 in value were won by members over the year with any ‘profits’ used to provide suppers over the year. Thanks also to those who suggested various guest speakers over the year. Apart from some excellent trip reports presented by members we also had a varied mix of guest speakers. These included – Aussie Disposals on 2 occasions, the Rolls Royce Club, Safari 4WD equipment, David Tulloch with his epic 1950’s Birdsville track film and tales of horse & buggies, Chadstone Mitsubishi, African Self Drive Adventures, Vic Pol air wing, Wildlife Victoria and of course Father Christmas at our December meeting. I’II be standing down as of July but we have a prospective new venue officer lined up in the wings to continue as Venue. Thanks again to all for your support.
