EW explores some regional news highlights in the global exhibitions industry
Americas – Two new bills recently passed in the US House of Representatives support key tax policies and expand workforce development for the events industry. The‘ One Big, Beautiful Bill’ preserves existing tax treatment for business profits and association events. The‘ Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan’ allows Pell Grants to fund skilled short-term workforce training.“ The House has taken two big steps forward toward ensuring our industry’ s ability to drive economic growth, support job creation and empower small businesses,” said Tommy Goodwin, executive VP of Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance.

Asia – Integrated events group,
GL events has acquired a 69 % stake in East West Small Animals Clinical Veterinary Surgeons Conference( WESAVC), organiser of China’ s leading exhibition of veterinary equipment for companion animals. The founders retain a 31 % stake in the company which organises a major event in Xiamen, covering equipment and developments in veterinary industry technologies. Each year, this event attracts over 1,000 exhibitors over an area of 50,000sqm. WESAVC employs approximately 40 people and generates sales of around € 6m.
Europe – Paris-based UFI has released new Oxford Economics data which revels that, globally, 32,000 exhibitions were held in 2024. Some 4.7m exhibiting companies drew 318m visitors worldwide, generating € 368bn($ 398bn) in economic impact for host regions. Since 2019, direct spending has grown by nearly 4 % a year. On average, each square metre of space brought in € 8,500. Europe led in visitor numbers with 102m, followed by North America( 89m) and Asia-Pacific( 84m). However, exhibition space use has declined or remained flat in most regions since 2019.
Asia – Hyve Group has launched
Breakbulk Asia, adding to its portfolio of Breakbulk events including Breakbulk Europe and Breakbulk Middle East. The new show will take place in Singapore in 2026. Mark Shashoua, Hyve Group CEO, said the launch respresented“ a stride forward in delivering Hyve’ s growth ambitions. It reflects our commitment to building world-class platforms that serve critical global industries and our ability to scale them with purpose.” The company said it was also important that Asia had its own breakbulk show as demand there for cargo logistics rises.
