human being, through using wrecking decks, or the musical factors to get there. So I’ m always pushing myself on so many different levels, not to compete or whatever, it’ s just I’ m always intrigued by music. I’ m intrigued by what you can do as a Hip-Hop DJ or turntablist with a recorded sound. You’ re always experimenting, it’ s almost as if you’ re in a lab, you doing this you doing that. So now we’ re on CDJs, we’ re on controllers, we have effects, we’ re doing all these crazy things, where back in the day we didn’ t have access to all those things. So certain techniques, if you wanted to get to that point you had to actually go and produce it or edit it in a studio, but now the technology is allowing me to do that live. So I can take that manual skill and integrate it with what the laptops and new equipment has to offer, so it’ s extra tools to get you from point A to point B and I’ ve been sitting for like 10 to 15 years wondering how the heck I can get to that point and I never thought that day would come until digital platform provided those tools for me, so I’ m always in that developing space trying to find new ways to get from one track to the other. The other thing is, when you talk about wrecking the decks, a lot people know me for being this Hip-Hop DJ, because my name came up through there and you know, I’ ve always being endorsing the culture. Yes, fair enough but first and foremost I always want to tell the people … look I’ m a freaking DJ, period, because before people knew me as Ready D the Hip-Hop DJ, and the guy on radio, you know with the competitions, back in the days I grew up playing disco music, reggae music, house music, acid house music, Chicago deep house, all that stuff. You know I played all that music growing up, as an individual in the scene. So if something’ s good and it speaks to me, I’ ll get on the decks and I’ ll attempt to play it, and mix and do what I can with it. I don’ t want people to go“ nah that bra is selling the show and there are some DJ’ s that are just very basic in the terms of what they do technically, but they tell an awesome musical story you know. So for me personally I look at so many different aspects and elements and all these variables, for me personally that counts and I feel that where ever possible, that needs to be made available to the public and the listeners, and that’ s one of the advantages of hosting a radio show, it’ s having the opportunity to be able to do that for listeners, for the DJ’ s and for the artist.
