You may have tried it as a child: filling an empty glass of water with sea water and started observing its color. You must have been astonished noticing the color changing from blue into colorless. It is really depressing. Well, with the same approach used to interpret why the ocean color is blue, the water inside a glass should also be. The fact is that, the less the volume of water the less the blue color intensity is. Imagine a swimming pool filled with ocean water, it would definitely appear less blue than the ocean itself. It is all due to the number of molecules undergoing the process of observing light; the more the molecules of water, the more the blue color emitted, and vice versa. So, a glass of water with few molecules of water would barely emit any blue light.

WHy then?
