I ’ d sneaked a peak of the ceremony room at breakfast before she ’ d chased me back to my room , telling me I shouldn ’ t see it until it was finished and not to worry ! I heard the strings playing “ All Of Me ” by John Legend and watched Kelly , Clair , Sally and Kerry walk down the aisle – now it was my turn .
As I came through the door , my eyes fixed on Chris and I could feel the smile stretch my cheeks . He was looking pretty nervous , but I knew the exact moment he saw me – his face broke into a beaming smile . I didn ’ t see anyone else as I walked down the aisle , although I was conscious of people smiling at me as I went past .
How did the Groom feel ? I ’ d arrived at the Cardinals Hatt with my family and was being strictly herded by Kerry-Lou to make sure I didn ’ t catch a glimpse of Nicki . I knew that she was nearly ready when Lee came over to take some pictures of us .
The guests started arriving and I took my place at the end of the aisle . The string quartet that Nicki usually plays with were already set up and had started playing music from John Williams films – Star Wars , Indiana Jones , Superman and Jurassic Park . From the way people kept smiling at me I knew they had sensed my input here ! Although I had been sceptical about having them play at the ceremony , after I had realised that they could play anything I was sold on the idea , and it was one of my favourite parts of the whole day . Eventually , they started playing “ All Of Me ” and I stood and waited for Nicki .
When I saw her , I felt so emotional and joyful , and couldn ’ t look anywhere but at her – my beautiful bride . That ’ s when I started smiling and I don ’ t think I stopped all day ! The ceremony was perfect , we had three readings which really personalised it for us and my brother Ash ( always a joker ) presented Nicki with an empty ring box before laughing and pulling my wedding ring from his pocket .
