were teenagers and Kelly’s gone
from being just a colleague to a
really close friend. After a long
day’s shopping, I decided to put
them in hot pink dresses that
made each of them look fabu-
lous. Chris asked his brothers to
share the job of best man, and
he and his gentlemen went for
grey tails with ivory waistcoats
and pink cravats. To help him
stand out, Chris flipped the col-
ours and looked very handsome
in a pink waistcoat.
Rather than table numbers, we
went for themes. We ended up
with a music table, comic book
table and cake table, and deco-
rated them using a decoupaged
wine bottle on a circular mir-
ror, with a generous sprinkling
of gems everywhere and a pink
gerbera in each bottle. Pink and
ivory balloons, pink sashes on
the chairs and a candy filled Fer-
ris wheel completed our décor. I
enjoy cross stitch, so I stitched
the designs for the invitations
and table plan, and Chris put
his DIY skills to the test making
a photo wall for our guests to
take pictures with.
tried to go back to sleep, but I
was just too excited! At seven I
went into my sisters’ room and
bounced on a chair until it was
time for breakfast. My hair-
dresser, Tracy and make-up art-
ist, Lucinda arrived and start-
ed to get everyone ready while
our photographer Lee captured
candid moments and my neph-
ew Harry was given a million
and one errands to run. My
mum, bridesmaids and mother-
in-law Lynne all came out look-
ing beautiful and now it was my
turn. For a while, it was all I
could do not to keep bouncing, I
was still so excited! After Tracy
and Lucinda had finished with
me, we banished Lee and Harry
from the room while my sisters
and mum helped me into my
dress. I’d chosen an ivory, ankle
length gown with a fitted, wide
V-necked, lace covered bodice
that buttoned up the back and
a full circle net skirt. After all
the buttons had been done up
with help from a crochet hook, I
slipped into my pink shoes and
clipped in my fingertip length
veil edged with lace.
