HEIDFELD ARMED FOR REBELLION
Rebellion Racing has retained Nick Heidfeld and Mathias Beche for the 2014 World Endurance Championship season.
The former F1 pilot for Sauber and Lotus Heidfeld will mount full championship campaign where previously only contesting sporadic races in both the WEC and the American Le Mans Series. As such it will be the German’s third season with the Swiss squad and the second for Beche.
Heidfeld will race all-new Rebellion Toyota R-One which is expected to undergo significant testing mileage during the Silverstone curtain-raiser test day in March.
"It is great to continue with Rebellion in 2014 after we enjoyed two successful seasons together," said Heidfeld.
Rebellion team boss Bart Hayden placed an emphasis on continuity given the development curve faced by Rebellion this season.
"Stability in the key drivers is a priority for us. There was a deep desire from the team and the drivers to continue, it is a logical decision to extend our relationship for the season to come."
The team, which will field two cars in the WEC, is yet to announce its three remaining drivers although Niolas Prost was already in the frame by the end of last season.
