Accord Equality & Fairness Report 2020
Examples of the work we are doing to understand and
maximise our social value:
Using the Theory of Change model as the basis, we
have developed an evaluation framework for Bosworth
Community Centre to enable us to more effectively report on
the range of outcomes experienced by service users.
We are accredited by Birmingham City Council as meeting
the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility
standard.
• We are working with our procurement lead to develop a
more consistent approach to maximising the social value we
generate through all of our procurement activity.
• In 2019 Accord was the lead body for co-ordinating the
Department for Education-funded Happy Healthy Holidays
(HHH) summer programme. We worked with 69 community
based organisations in Birmingham who ran 153 Happy
Healthy Holiday clubs and delivered 90,270 activity sessions
with meals, to 13,665 unique children and young people
during summer 2019. Evaluation was a key part of the
programme to understand the impact of the programme
for community organisations, families and children. We
produced a Community Impact report to summarise our
impact https://accordgroup.org.uk/file/accord/communityimpact-summary-final-40381.pdf.
The Accord Way - Dedicated
We specifically worked to build the capacity of local
organisations and community networks so that as a city
Birmingham can deliver more, much needed good quality
holiday activities with healthy food in the future. HHH was
one of 11 programmes in England to receive the Holiday
Activities and Food grant funding in 2019.
The key programme aims were to meet local needs and
support children (and parents) who attended HHH clubs to:
• Eat more healthily;
• Be more physically active;
• Engage in enriching activities which support healthy
development, resilience, character, and wellbeing;
• Be safe, socially active and included;
• Develop basic nutrition knowledge;
• Engage more with local services
