Session 9— K-12 Assessment Creation and Design

This session will focus on using two websites for assessment and data collection. The websites will be forallrubics. com and socrative. com. These sites allow for the creation of standard and web-based assessments that are for teacher use, teacher and student use, and student use.
Session 10— 3-5
Paths to Problem Solving Diana Labich & Karen Slattery Location: Parkman STEAM Room
In this session, teachers will be given an overview of a new resource for problem solving strategy instruction: Paths to Problem Solving. Teachers will have time to collaboratively engage in the lesson plans and determine how to weave them into the pacing of their existing curriculum units.

Session 11— 9-12 Shifting to the Learner-Centered
Classroom Deborah Gaskell & Kristen Fitzsimons
Location: JFK 35 BLACK
This session will include ideas of how to shift to a learnercentered classroom, as well as some explanations as to why this shift should occur. Knowledge of adolescent development and learning theory, combined with knowledge of the needs of 21st century learners, can support teachers’ investment in this type of instruction. Grouping structures that support different class period lengths of time and strategies to manage and maintain a more autonomous classroom will be discussed.

History Day for High Schoolers Brian Zawodniak Location: JFK Innovation Lab
National History Day has become one of the most recognized academic contests in the U. S. Despite the commitment it takes, it is still very much‘ doable’ for those high school students interested in all sorts of history. This is not just for history teachers to mentor. English teachers can add much to the research process and final presentation platform for their students, too. Come learn the nuts and bolts and a fast track approach to getting your students on the History Day train. It is easier than you think!
Session 13— 9-12 6 Co-Teaching Strategies and How to Implement Them Darcy Shuman Location: EHS C116
In this session, we will review the 6 co-teaching strategies and how to implement them at the secondary level. We will also discuss the successes and challenges associated with co-teaching, as well as share strategies to implement in our classes.

Session 14— K-12 Using Video Technology to Improve Student Instruction John Dague Location: EHS E131
In this session, teachers will learn to use Discover Video Technology in a variety of ways. Included will be how to create multimedia presentations for use at school and home; how to upload, manage, and play live and recorded educational vide; and how to create text overlay for video content.
Session 15— K-12 Developing Innovation Through Incorporating Creative Arts in the Classroom Marilyn Goodnite & Richard Fahey Location: EHS E121
In this session, teachers will collaborate on developing interdisciplinary projects that will engage students in creative thinking and problem solving.
