So, if you are reading this article, it im-
plies we may have a common interest
- Entrepreneurship.
The cineplex around the world have
been home to some excellent lessons
for those who wish to seek. The kind of
reach and the extent of delivery that
movies can have has been used su-
perbly by many film-makers. Consid-
er, for example, the 1987 released Wall
Street. With the backdrop of Reagan’s
presidency, this movie revolves around
portraying to young businessmen how
“Greed is good.” It makes you question
your morale and makes you wonder
what price you are willing to pay for the
sake of success. Or, consider Steve Jobs,
a reflection on the life of the soul behind
one of the biggest companies. Witness
the extraordinary journey of the man,
the making and breaking, the success-
es and failures, the fears and challeng-
es that lay on his path to his goals, all
in 2 hours and 2 minutes. On the oth-
er hand, feel inspired by The Pursuit
of Happiness, based on entrepreneur
Chris Gardner’s nearly one-year strug-
gle being homeless and then rising to
become a Wall Street legend. From les-
sons on what to do to lessons on what
not to do, and all the struggles in be-
tween, everything has been brought on
the Silver Screen beautifully.
Moving forward, Bollywood has also
produced some exceptional work to
showcase stories that keep you think-
ing about them after it is over. Guru,
loosely based on the life of an Indian
business tycoon, revolves around the
life of an ambitious middle-class boy
who marries a rich man’s daughter
and proceeds to start his own business
from the dowry money. The controver-
sial film follows how one of the biggest
companies in the country was built
with merciless manipulation but it
also teaches you a lesson about com-
mitment and the power of believing
in your dreams and yourself. Plenty of
inspirational movies like Iqbal, Jaane
Bhi Do Yaaro, Manzil and others, with
numerous subtle messages along with
a hardcore lesson have been brought
out and left anyone who has watched
them with something of substance to
wonder about.
The global box office alone has been
estimated to be worth $41.7 billion
and that is excluding home entertain-
ment revenue. Together, they give way
to the ever rising and shining global
film industry that is worth $136 billion.
India alone produced 1,813 movies in
the year of 2018. With the means that
are available and the amount of con-
sumption of movies that is prevalent
in the world, films are an excellent way
to send your point across and inspire
the masses. There has been some out-
standing work that has been produced
to tell tales of some exceptional beings
that are bound to leave the viewer as-
tonished, and there are many more to
come in the near future.
And as Mario Puzo had said in The
Godfather, “Great men are not born.
They grow great.” Keep growing, fu-
ture-entrepreneurs!
