CITIZENS BOND COMMITTEE ACCEPTS APPLICATIONS FOR 2023 BOND

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON ADA PEDESTRIAN PATHS NEAR DOWNTOWN
ARLINGTON ✅
The City of Arlington kicked off the 2023 Bond Program by accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on the 2023 Citizens Bond Committee . Applications were accepted through 5 p . m . Tuesday , May 31 , 2022 .
The Citizens Bond Committee is made of 19 City Council-appointed Arlington residents who will review and recommend projects for a bond program that could be presented to Arlington voters in May 2023 .
Members will meet weekly each Thursday from Aug . 18 to Oct . 6 , 2022 , to discuss potential projects . The meetings will build on each other to develop a final recommendation , so attendance is expected at every meeting . A recommended project list will be presented to the Arlington City Council in December 2022 .
Topics to be considered include :
• Introduction to capital program process & initial projects list prepared by City departments .
• Presentations from departmental directors with details for each proposed budget
• Guided tour of proposed projects
• Prioritization exercises to determine highest priority projects within the available capacity
• Development of the final Citizen Bond Committee recommendation for P & Z and City Council
Two public meetings are scheduled in addition to the Citizens Bond Committee meetings for public input .
The Public Works Department is pleased to announce another project in support of their ongoing effort to increase pedestrian mobility and accessibility began construction this spring . Beginning in May , work to create continuous ADA compliant pedestrian paths at the following locations were underway :
• Front Street ( West Street to Mesquite Street )
• Main Street ( Mary Street to Jeffries Street )
• Nathan Lowe Road ( S . Cooper Street to Petra Drive )
• South Street ( College Street to Spruance Street )
• West Street ( W . Division Street to UTA Boulevard )
This project aligns with the City Council ’ s priorities to Champion Great Neighborhoods and Enhance Regional Mobility .
