WHAT’S THE BUZZ AT ESS!
Second Grade Superheroes
Mrs. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Kilty, Mrs. Schmidt,
Mrs. Tercasio & Mrs. Trifone
Second grade has so many wonderful
things going on. In reading, we are
using our reading strategies to grow as
second grade readers. Students are
learning about narrative elements.
Next, we will grow our word solving
muscles by incorporating those
strategies into longer books.
In math, we have been working on our
addition and subtraction strategies.
We are using these skills to problem
solve. We have worked with odd and
even numbers, and arrays.
In writing, we have been writing small
moment stories. Small moment
stories are true stories, about a
moment in our lives. We will continue
this writing unit until November.
In Second Step we have learned how
to focus our attention, pay attention,
and be assertive to get the most out
of our learning. We will talk about
feelings and body language to interact
with others next.
We are looking forward to our in-
school field trip program. The CT
Historical Society will come to school
and teach us about native people in
CT long ago.
