Students know the nature values of Mediterranean countries: volcanoes, islands, mountains, karst phenomena, rivers, forests, Mediterranean climate, seas, bays and straits. Activities: Students point the countries on the map, compare landscapes and find representative features. They use pictures and the internet to describe the values. Then, they lead a short debate on nature values of the countries situated by the Mediterranean Sea and act role-play: school quiz. By the end of the class, students are able to enumerate nature values of the countries, point out similarities and differences among them. 2 nd lesson Subject: Cultural values of the Mediterranean Basin Students have knowledge about the attractions of the region: numerous museums and monuments, especially palaces, churches and cathedrals. They become aware of the importance of musical and film festivals as well as festivals held in cities and towns based on local customs and traditions. Students are able to choose the places, activities, way of travelling, estimate approximate time to fulfil the planned activities and compile the plan of an interesting trip. Activities: Students bring some tourist leaflets, brochures and in groups prepare a plan of a trip to a Mediterranean country. After finishing the task, they divide into two groups: tourist agents and tourists. A few students take roles of tourists who were on the trip and tell about it – show photos, places on the map etc. Finally students vote for or against the suggested trip.
