WHEN YOU’RE AN ADDAMS
By: Andrea Garza
Exceeding expectations, both in attendance and
performance, the Fine Arts Committee presentation of the
musical The Addams Family was a two hour explosion of
laughs, vocal abilities, and authentic representation of the
kooky 1960s TV show.
With more than 82% of tickets sold overall, the
Saturday performance started with 551 attendees clapping
to the sound of “When you’re an Addams”, the opening
song that captivated the audience with Hilda Martínez as
the sensual Morticia, and Poncho Morales as the lovable
Gomez Addams.
The rest of the family consisted of Miranda Treviño
as Pugsley, Laura García as Grandma, Andros Hadjopulos
as Fester, Eugenio Díaz as Lurch and Claudia Elizondo as
Wednesday, who gave some of the most impressive vocals
of the nights.
Laura Marín, Pato Rocha, and Enrique Rodríguez
played the Beinekes; Alice, Lucas and Malcolm, respective-
ly.
In two acts, the story of a daughter from a peculiar
family who falls in love and plans to marry a regular young
man was as endearing as it was funny, with the game “Full
Disclosure” being the highlight before the intermission.
The atmosphere was light and homey, with the onlookers
whistling every time Morticia showed off her walk, and
laughing out as Fester declared his love for the moon.
At the end of the play, Mr. Segovia, the director, to took a
moment to congratulate and wish farewell to the seniors
who will graduate in June.
But the group hasn’t said goodbye yet, because they
are headed to Los Angeles in January to perform in a
competition, with a 12 minute extract of the whole show.
