have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Romans 8:9-11, NLT
Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16 NLT). The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same Spirit that resides in you. Therefore, though we suffer awhile and our temples may lie in ruin and waste, they shall be rebuilt, restored by His Holy Spirit breathing upon us if we decide to let Him rule and reign.
Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in[a] you? God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17, NLT
You are holy because He is Holy (1 Peter 1:16 NLT). No matter how much you messed up and stepped out of the will of God, He has already received you back and made provisions to restore you to the path and destiny that He planned for you.
Personally, I have felt both repercussions of my sins and the sufferings of persecution. Ouch, yes it hurts! Sometimes it is hard to get up on the inside to move on. In both incidences I was discouraged, wandering in subjection of the enemy, my flesh. I could not hear God or feel His presence. I was working it out on my own. I thought if I did it my way and slide a scripture or two in it, then my problems would be less painful and resolve more quickly. Boy was I wrong. I was off my path with Him and it was affecting my family, my health and my ministry. I needed help. What you are walking through may not be a dust yourself off and find someone who would constantly agree with you moment. No, it’s a personal cry out to Jesus.
I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.
— Psalm 57:2-3, NLT
Those of you who are weak and are in a fallen state, all you have to do is humble yourself; willingly yielding to restoration in relationship with Him. If you have to break some relationships do it. If you have to squeeze someone’s hand and cry do it. If you have to write some letters of goodbye and burn them in a bonfire do it. If you filed bankruptcy, lost your house, lost your marriage, the Lord is compassionate and will restore with the better if you yield and turn, your aching hearts towards Him.
That is why the LORD says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.”Return to the LORD your God for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailingHe is eager to relent and not punish.
Joel 2:12-13, NLT
