Brokenness: a Precursor to Restoration
When the Lord restores, He does not take you back where you originally fell from. He restores you to a higher level. In so doing He places the best in your life to see you through. You see Hananiah a faithful, God-fearing man was entrusted with the governing of God’s people (Nehemiah 7:2). Although the details of his assignment wasn’t disclosed, but I bet you he stood high in that palace and made sure Israel and Judah received all that God had for them. Hananiah was a man that was yielded and controlled by God almighty Himself. He was the ruler over Jerusalem and ruled by God. We have such a person that rules within us, when we totally yield and surrender to Him. That person is the Holy Ghost (Spirit). If we allow the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God rule us we will one day reign with Him (2 Timothy 2:11-13 NKJV).

It is by the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we have the Holy Spirit residing in us ruling in our minds and hearts. I challenge you to go back to when the Lord saved you. You decided to make Him Lord of your life. Does He still rule you or are you sliding Him in your life where needed? Recall the Word God spoke over and to you in the Bible. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.”
John 14:26-29, NLT
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.
(And remember that those who do not
