was presented with the opportunity to become a long term substitute as an Enfield High School English teacher .
Originally from East Granby , Beneski went to Northwest Catholic High School and loved high school . After high school , Beneski went to Boston College as an English major and got a job at Cigna Insurance Company after he was done with college .
Beneski didn ’ t think very highly of his job , saying , “ I hated my job at Cigna ; I realized very quickly that I was not an office guy . However , I thought about the things that I did enjoy about the job and realized , despite my beliefs to the contrary , that I wanted to be a teacher .”
He realized that a job like Cigna wasn ’ t for him , he felt like a teaching job would fit him much better . He decided to switch careers and become a teacher .
Beneski got his first teaching job in 1989 as a substitute teacher at East Granby Middle and High School , while he was getting his masters degree in education . Once he finished his degree , he got his first full-time teaching job in 1992 , at Morse School of Business in Hartford . Since that first full-time job , Beneski has primarily taught English classes , but also taught Latin and Moral Philosophy classes . He has ended up teaching all grades from 7th all the way up to community college .
Beneski has taught at six different schools and those schools have ranged from prep schools , charter schools , public schools , business schools , and a community college . Three of the schools were in Hawaii and three of the schools were in Connecticut .
While at the other schools he has taught at and even early on into his Enfield High School career , he has coached many different athletics ; soccer , basketball , baseball , softball , volleyball ,
