Another significant disease was Tuberculosis. This disease caused the wasting of the body and attacking the lungs. As an effect the lungs produced tubercles. The tubercles became yellow and spongy causing them to cough a lot. This disease affected the people that were fed poorly. It also affected the ones who lived in dirty and damp homes. A person breathing in the exhaled air of a person who has the disease can spread tuberculosis. So in these times of the industrial revolution it was very easy to spread this disease. Tuberculosis killed one third of the people who died between 1800 and 1850.
