Former Islamist president, Mohammed Morsi, was Egypts first civilian. He only served as an Islamic president for 13 months and later impeached by the military in early July of 2013. He was born in the small village of El Adwah near the Nile delta province in the year of 1951. In the 1970's, Mohammed studied engineering at Cairo University and later moved to the United States of America to complete his PhD at Zagazig University. He became the leader of their engineering department after returning from Egypt. Morsi's triumph in the presidential election was declared on June 24, 2012 after winning 51.7 percent of the vote facing Ahmed Shafik demoted leader, Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister.
When he became the Islamist president in June of 2012, thousands of people were outraged by the event and ever since he was elected, the military, and other civilians have been wanting him to step down or become impeached. Mohammed Morsi has committed other crimes in the past which has stirred up controversy upon his presidency. I believe he deserved to become impeached and lose his presidency because of his unfaithful actions in the past.
Thousands of People protested and told the military, what they wanted in order for him to step down. Mohammed Morsi said, "he was Egypt's legitimate leader, and that any effort to remove him by force could plunge the country into chaos. "(BBC news,2014). After the Egyptian Revolution of 2013, Mohammed Morsi was removed by Marshal Al-Sisi, from Islamist Presidency.
In November 2013, Mohammed went on trial and was charged with inciting murder and other violence. Later his trial was held until January of 2014. In December, there were new charges of giving out state secrets to an outside country, and supporting terrorism. These new charges bring up the death penalty towards Mohammed's case.
