Alumni Update
Hailey Sebree
T
he Alumni office recently had the pleasure of speaking with Hailey Sebree, an EFSC Nursing
alum. Hailey graduated in 2017 from EFSC with an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing.
She is currently working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at UF Health, formerly
Shands Hospital, in Gainesville, FL. The unit’s primary responsibility is taking care of children who
need heart transplants. Choosing a career in nursing was simple for Hailey. “I’ve never wanted to
do anything else!” she said.
Hailey also shared that without EFSC’s amazing nursing faculty and staff, her experience would not
have been the same.
“Dr. Hurley, my clinical leader, was like a mother figure for me. She would talk to us as a person,
not just a student, and really went above and beyond for us,” she said.
When asked about the challenges of her career as a nurse in the PCICU, she said, “We just try to make the kids comfy, love
on them and support their families. The emotions really hit you when you walk out of the room. There are plenty of positive
outcomes to celebrate. Seeing the kids come in for follow-ups, growing stronger, and looking healthy, brings tears knowing
I’m a part of their recovery.”
Congratulations, Hailey, on all that you have accomplished.
We are so proud to have you as a Titan!
