OPENS DOORS
The second Residence Hall for students on the Melbourne Campus opened its doors in August for the start of the Fall Term .
• The $ 8 million project was completed on-time and on-budget
• Students moving into the 96-bed building greeted the day with excitement , saying living on campus is a major plus
• Hannah Bailey , who came from Ocala , said she wanted to attend a smaller school and liked EFSC ’ s programs and the Melbourne campus
• Julian Jara was moved in from across the state . After initially taking EFSC classes online he “ wanted the experience of dorm life . I am not really a social person so am looking forward to meeting people and doing things besides studying .”
• The new three-story building consists of 24 suites that each contain four individual bedrooms , two bathrooms , a shared kitchen and common living area . Parking and security are provided
• The housing is available to all full-time students with housing rules governed by the college ’ s Student Code of Conduct
• “ They are extremely nice dorms . It ’ s nice to have my own room and to have a full kitchen and living area . It ’ s a cool opportunity to get to meet new people and try new things ,” she said .
• Said Saniah Smith , who transferred from Indian River State College and is an EFSC cheerleader : “ I can just walk over to cheer practice which is going to be great . I wanted the whole college experience . I love it .”
