ADVANCED

TECHNOLOGIES

CENTER GETS

UNDERWAY

The college received $ 3.6 million from the Florida Legislature to begin modernizing the Cocoa Campus with a new Advanced Technologies Center .
• The Center will be housed in the three-story campus Library with library services moved to another building , marking a revision in the campus ’ master plan unveiled in 2022
• The original proposal called for building a new $ 14.5 million , 35,000-square-foot technology center but rising construction costs and potential years-long funding delays in the Legislature caused college leaders to change the approach

THE NEW PLAN WILL

• Save taxpayers millions of dollars by alleviating the need to build a new structure
• Save time and allow the new Advanced Technologies Center to be open years before planned
• Ensure EFSC meets the challenge by Gov . Ron DeSantis to help achieve his goal of ensuring Florida is the leading state for workforce training and education
• Allow for the future expansion of the Center to meet the needs of Space Coast employers
• The $ 3.6 million will be used to move the Library and start preparing the building for high-tech programs .
• Additional funding will be requested from the Legislature to outfit the 90,000-square-foot building for high-tech classes .
• The facility will have larger spaces for classrooms , collaborative workspaces , and labs to accommodate the expansion of growing workforce programs
• The programs offered will include Applied Manufacturing , Mechatronics and Robotics , Computerized Machining , Aerospace Systems , Advanced Composites and Electronics Technology
