• Created new Career Planning and Development Center that has resulted in a dramatic increase in
internships and the placement of students into jobs throughout the year, with more than 15,500

• Successfully hosted GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich at the Simpkins Center on the Cocoa
Campus for a roundtable discussion on the U.S. space program with space industry leaders as part of

• Initiated year-long communication plan to cultivate relationships with Brevard news industry leaders to
tell the good story that is BCC, which has resulted in a substantial amount of positive media coverage.

• Created teaching and learning centers based on faculty research and input with development of the

• Gave the first-ever “State of the College” and “Community Reception” address to detail College goals,
with the speech broadcast live-stream on the College website. (Public Awareness, Community Relations,

• Created two new Bachelor of Applied Science Degree programs to start in August 2013, the first four-
year programs in the college’s history and a move that transformed BCC into a state college. (Student

• Created a new Website that dramatically improved the image of the College and significantly aids in

• Won $26.7 million additional appropriation from the Florida Legislature with $5 million in recurring
funds, the largest single boost ever for the College in the state budget. (Financial Management, Trustee

• Began a comprehensive, year-long research effort to rename and rebrand BCC for its transformation
into a state college. (Student Enrollment, Public Awareness, Community Relations, Trustee Relations)
• Contended for the prestigious Aspen Award for the best community college in the nation, with the
institute placing Brevard Community College in the top 10 percent of community colleges in the U.S.
