JIM RICHEY, PRESIDENT | 2013 LEADERSHIP HIGHLIGHTS • Improved climate for college business partnerships in speech before 400 business leaders from Brevard and Central Florida at Port Canaveral’s “State of the Port” Conference at the Simpkins Center. (Community Relations, Public Awareness) • Began Eastern Florida State College era with unveiling of the new college name and TV commercial- led branding campaign before hundreds of community leaders at Simpkins Center. (Public Awareness, Community Relations, Student Enrollment, Employee Relations.) July 2013 • Successfully led smooth Eastern Florida State College transition as the new name became official July 1 in a major effort that included large-scale changes to Website, new URL, email addresses for faculty, staff and students, renaming TV station, new campus signs. (Public Awareness, Community Relations, Student Enrollment, Employee Relations.) • New college name and marketing campaign greeted with strong community support that continues growing throughout the year as students and residents embraced the name and move to state college status. (Public Awareness, Community Relations, Student Enrollment, Employee Relations.) • Crafted dual enrollment agreement with Brevard Public Schools that has the district pay high school student tuition for first time, with agreement serving as model for the Florida College System. (Student Enrollment, Financial Management, Community Relations) • C  ommunity College Week Magazine annual study showed Eastern Florida ranks 23rd in the U.S. in awarding AA Degrees among more than 1,200 similarly-sized colleges in the nation. (Student Enrollment, Public Awareness) • Increased diversity in Annual Florida Department of Education Equity Report, which found enrollment increases among African-American students, Hispanic students, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency, and state commendation for participation rate of women in intercollegiate sports. (Diversity Initiatives, Student Enrollment, Trustee Relations) • I  ncreased fundraising at Eastern Florida State College Foundation resulted in $539,500 Harmon Strieter Scholarship. (Fundraising, Financial Management) August 2013 • Successfully launched first two Bachelor Degree programs in college’s history with nearly three times the expected number of students in inaugural class, reflecting the need the college is meeting in its baccalaureate offerings. (Student Enrollment, Financial Management, Public Awareness) • Gave Fall Term “Welcome Back” speech to faculty and staff on importance of Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS) visit for reaccreditation and Quality Enhancement Plan for student success.
