• More than 2,000 students received their diplomas at Spring Commencement with Robert Cabana,
director of Kennedy Space Center and one of America’s most distinguished astronauts, giving the

• Received $2.5 million from the Florida Legislature for site and architectural planning to construct a
new Health Sciences Institute on the Melbourne campus. (Financial Management, Student Enrollment,

• Honored more than 5,000 students who volunteered 240,000 community service hours through the
Center for Service Learning with the program earning a place on the U.S. President’s Higher Community
Service Honor Roll for the eighth straight year. (Student Enrollment, Diversity Initiatives, Community

• E xtended the Student Support Desk hours to seven days a week to provide more informational help to
students and to assist the Registrar’s Office, Admissions, online learning. (Student Enrollment, Employee

• Began implementing a series of equipment upgrades to college’s Security Office, including new radios
for improved communications and new transportation vehicles for campus patrols. (Employee Relations)
• R
eceived the Community Sports Award from the Space Coast Sports Commission for leadership in
expanding EFSC’s athletic programs and building the Melbourne campus sports complex, and using the
complex to increase the college’s economic impact in Brevard. (Community Relations)

• Earned 10-year reaccreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission
on Colleges, and a separate accreditation for EFSC’s change to a state college in 2013, which includes

• Received the reaffirmation with the highest grade possible, a rare accomplishment that ended five years
of work by faculty and staff and earned the college the “gold standard” in higher education. (Student

• Crafted a fiscally strong $74.4 million operating budget for FY 2014-15 that did not raise tuition for the

• E nsured the budget fully funded all academic and other programs, including the 22 new academic
programs started the past two years. (Student Enrollment, Employee Relations, Financial Management)
• Included a 4 percent pay increase for adjunct faculty in the budget, the first time they received a pay
