• Ground broken on new Public Safety Institute on Melbourne campus with community leaders in
attendance, saying “public safety professionals deserve the best education possible, and we will be able

• Leadership results in Florida Department of Education approving two new Bachelor Degree tracks
in Public Safety Management and Sales and Marketing Management, set for launch in August 2014.

• EFSC named among top 150 colleges nationwide in competition for the 2015 Aspen Prize for Community
College Excellence, awarded for high levels of student success, innovative strategies and workforce

pened new Veterans Center on Cocoa and Melbourne campuses, making commitment to better serve

• Began the successful conversion to Canvas Management Learning System in a significant upgrade to
improve student academic performance and make it easier for faculty to track student progress in all

• Highlighted the college’s growing regional educational and economic impact at the Orlando Business
Journal’s “Higher Education Roundtable” in Orlando that included leaders from seven other area
colleges and universities. (Community Relations, Public Awareness)
• Hosted the Florida High School Athletic Association Boys and Girls State Soccer Championship
Tournament at Melbourne campus soccer complex with visitors contributing an estimated $1 million
into the Brevard economy. (Financial Management, Community Relations)
• H
osted a NASA public hearing on the Titusville Campus that drew 400 people to discuss the future of
Kennedy Space Center and commercial space operations as part of developing the nation’s new human
space exploration policy. (Community Relations, Public Awareness)

• Gained Florida Board of Education approval for seven new Bachelor Degrees in Business, Health Care
