I have great faith in the three R’ s – Reuse, Recycle and Reduce. Hence, I try to reduce wastage by passing on my old clothes, books, toys to the underprivileged children. Participation in Earth Hour Walkathon in Downtown Dubai and Bee’ ah Walkathon in Sharjah have been some more efforts of mine to do my bit for the environment. At home, I have declared myself as the electricity monitor and ensure that all lights are switched off when not required. I also see that water usage is kept to the minimum.
One of my latest developments is the usage of Reverse Vending Machines( RVMS) to recycle plastic bottles and cans. With the advent of these machines, efforts are being made to see that lesser and lesser waste turns up in the landfills and I will try to raise awareness amongst fellow human beings to use these machines for reducing waste. Working for the environment has been a great learning experience for me, a kind of eye-opener wherein i have understood how we the human beings are spoiling our own habitat, the Mother Earth and why we need to take immediate action to her from further damage. The best thing about my endaevours for saving the environment has been that I have been able to motivate my friends and family to be environment friendly and not waste resources. It surely does give me a lot of satisfaction to do my little bit for the precious environment I live in. This year again I continue to be the Environment Ambassador of my school. I intend to continue my efforts to raise awareness about our environment and how we together can make it a better place for all of us to live in.
