over 10 tons of waste
collected at this summer’s concerts
T
he Depeche Mode concert in
Bucharest, one of the year’s
biggest musical events, kicked o?
the season’s eco-fun. Under the sign of
good music, engaging energy and hot
atmosphere, over 50,000 concert goers
had loads of fun and protected the
environment at the same time.
?e concert was followed by two of the
most famous music festivals, B’estfest
Summer Cap 2013 and Peninsula,
which included, as in previous years, a lot
of good music, unforgettable experiences
and eco actions. ?e approximately
124,000 participants had fun without
leaving any packaging waste behind them,
as they had access to 20 colored
containers for separate collection,
made available by Eco-Rom Ambalaje in
partnership with festival organizers. Fans
of good music collected separately 5,434
kilos of packaging waste, of which
3,734 kilos were plastic and 1,700
kilos were paper and cardboard.
?e wheel of separate collection, the ring
game or the Eco-exam o?ered concert
goers a lot of fun and encouraged them to
collect waste, while mascots and
promoters o?ered them information about
the importance of separate collection and
recycling of packaging waste.
Prizes were handed out at both festivals
this year as well: over 4,000 young
4
people who were ‘caught in the act’ of
collecting waste separately were o?ered
an eco bracelet on the spot. And 1,000 of
the most responsible festival goers who
attended Eco-Rom Ambalaje actions in the
eco tent were rewarded with baseball
caps, beach balls, yo-yos, T-shirts, Frisbees
and sunglasses.
“Our presence at the two festivals has
demonstrated once again how easy it is to
have fun and protect nature at the same
time. ?e 5,434 kilograms of waste
collected separately are a very good result
which gives us the con?dence that our
actions have helped the youth realize how
important it is to keep packaging waste
out of the trash can and into the colored
containers so that it is recycled. Because
throwing packaging waste on the ground
is no fun, while enjoying good music with
your friends is,” said Lorita
Constantinescu, Eco-Rom Ambalaje Public
Relations and Communication Manager.
?is year, the towns of Slobozia, Ploie?ti
and Pite?ti were celebrated not only with
music and cheer, but also in a responsible
fashion, and our promoters rewarded all
those who were seen collecting packaging
waste separately during concerts
organized by local authorities in honor of
the towns.
Eco-Rom Ambalaje was also present at
festivals such as Waha and Folk You,
where it has o?ered organizers bags for
the separate collection of packaging
waste.
?e eco-fun was completed at the biggest
concert of the year, Roger Waters’ ?e
Wall, for which over 30 separate collection
containers were made available to the
Constitution Square concert participants.
All the packaging waste collected
separately at concerts and festivals was
turned over for recycling.
