clean beach,
separate collection, real fun!
Y
ear-round, you dream of
relaxation on the hot sand at the
seaside, listening to the waves’
music and forgetting all your worries. But
your vacation can become stuffy and
tiresome when you’re drowsily lying down
on your towel only to discover an empty
plastic bottle underneath or when you
enthusiastically start digging in the sand
to build a castle for your kid, but you have
to carefully pick out all the small glass
shards first, or when you’re bathing in UV
light and trying to breathe in the fresh,
salty sea air only to literally choke on the
stench of altered ice cream and beer
boiling in the hot sun, packaging thrown
away on the sand, near the trash cans,
on the sidewalks or even in the water.
Eco-Rom Ambalaje is leading the fight for
clean beaches. Separate collection
containers have been set up all over the
place, all you have to do is reach out you
hand and throw the waste. At the same
time, concerts make recycling more fun
and dozens of contests and awards will
motivate you to be better. Due to EcoRom Ambalaje actions to encourage
separate collection on Vadu Beach and
Camping S last year, a total of 1,034
kilos of packaging waste was collected
for recycling. This included 447 kilos of
plastic, 535 kilos of paper and
cardboards and 52 kilos of glass.
This year we have continued actions
aimed at making recycling easier, which
will therefore pave the way to truly
dreamlike vacations, with clean and fine
sand, fresh air, in which fun activities get
along perfectly with a responsible
behavior. During August 3-25, tourists on
Vadu and Corbu beaches nearby
N?vodari resort, along with those at
Camping S in Mamaia Nord resort, were
able to collect packaging waste
separately.
“We would like all tourists at the seaside
to enjoy clean beaches, with no waste
thrown away randomly. And we are aware
that this can only happen if the tourists
themselves are made responsible and
involved in the separate collection of
packaging waste in the places where
they spend their vacation, not only in
their homes. So, we have prepared
thousands of attractive prizes and
interesting games for tourists, everything
for a cleaner environment and in hope
that this will change their recycling
habits,” said Sorin Popescu, Eco-Rom
Ambalaje General Manger.
VADU AND CORBU BEACHES, THE
SEASIDE’S GREEN AREAS!
For four weeks, Mare Nostrum volunteers
gave tourists information about the
importance of separate collection of
packaging waste and have handed out
1,200 colored bags for plastic-metal,
paper-cardboards and glass waste. All
the waste that was thus collected
separately was stored in specially
arranged places, to be taken over by
sanitation operators and shipped to
recycling stations. Moreover, several
notice boards and banners were set up
on the Vadu and Corbu beaches, all of
them with interactive messages to inform
and get the tourists mobilized to keep the
beach clean and collect packaging waste
separately. For extra motivation, over
300 prizes were handed out to people
who attended separate collection
contests on the beach.
TOURISTS ENTHUSIASTICALLY ATTEND ECO
ACTIONS IN MAMAIA NORD
Eco-Rom Ambalaje has invited people
present at Mamaia Nord resort’s
Camping S to collect packaging waste
separately with the help of 40 special
containers and 1,200 colored bags for
plastic-metal, paper-cardboard and glass.
Under the slogan “Clean Beach, Separate
Collection, Real Fun!” tourists were invited
to attend various actions in the eco tent:
the recycle art workshop – a packaging
waste drawing contest, the recycling
wheel, the ring game, the eco-exam, with
over 1,200 attractive prizes at stake.
Furthermore, winners of the beach volley
and soccer events at the Ecolympic
Games were rewarded weekly with beer
prizes offered by the campaign’s partner.
And on every weekend, Eco-Rom
Ambalaje rewarded and granted the title
of “Green Gang” to the most responsible
and cheerful group of Camping S which
managed to collect separately the largest
volume of packaging waste.
