ENFIELD-Coming March 1st , 2023 , Enfield High School Pro-start culinary team will be competing in the Ct ProStart Invitational looking to redeem themselves from last year ’ s finish . The Eagles are looking to take first place after losing to Wilbur Cross last year .
In 2022 , 150 people came to see high school culinary and restaurant management teams from Enfield High School , Fitch High School , Windsor High School and Wilbur Cross High School compete for the opportunity to travel to Washington , DC for the National ProStart Invitational .
Wilbur Cross High School came out on top , finishing in first place in both culinary and management while Enfield placed second in both events .
Enfield took the loss to hear heart as they nearly left with first place against the highly competitive , experienced Wilbur Cross team . Wilbur Cross has gotten first place 7 times in the past 11 years . They are a force to be reckoned with . Their few losses show that they are not invincible .
Enfield will be bringing back to the fight the same team from last year that got 2 nd place and a brand-new team with new members to Pro-Start .
On the returning team , the members are Maddie Bohan , Evan Murphy , Eric Sirard , Kerry Donohue , and Christopher Mejia . On the new team , its Kelsey Higgins , Raya Tozian , Kyrah Spruill , Delaney Hutchings , and Viktoria Olsen .
“ We are going to be more put together … we ’ re gonna be less anxious about it .” Said Maddie Bohan , Manager of the returning team from Enfield after being asked what ’ s their expectations for this year . “ I hope we get first , but I don ’ t necessary 100 % know that we ’ re going too . We definitely need to continue working towards it . But I think it will all pay out in the end .”
“ It ’ s definitely a little intimidating knowing that other teams know the competition and what to expect . But it ’ s also exciting just to try something new and see where it goes . It ’ s really amazing for me personally to see the growth my team has made from our first practice till now , and to see the effort they put in to better themselves for the team … I am proud and
