Eagles Team Up for Swim Success

ENFIELD--The Enfield High School boys swim seam has joined forces with Ellington and Suffield to create the Eagles Swim Team in 2022-23 .
This year is the first year that the Enfield Boys Swim Team Has Joined Ellington and Suffield in order to create a competitive swim experience . The Eagles swim at the Enfield Annex , formally known as Enrico Fermi High School , and practice from three to five every evening .
The team numbers are at a whopping 29 kids on the team , with almost 10 from each town . So far , the team is 3-1 on the season .
The teams came together this year because last year Enfield Ellington and Suffield had a small number of athletes on their individual teams . If the team numbers got any smaller either team would not be allowed to compete in meets .
Former childhood friends Coach Debbie Goodman from Enfield and the Ellington and Suffield Coach , Coach Kevin Mattia talked over the off season to try and combine the two teams . They Proposed it to the schools , and they liked the idea , so they combined the two teams .
“ It ' s Amazing , It ' s Like an entire family ” says Ethan Araujo -- a team captain from Ellington “ It ' s great to see 3 different towns getting together and creating this much of an awesome environment .”
For the team to bond we have gone to many team dinners , we have gone after every meet and even before the season started just to meet each other . The team enjoys spending time together because the team continues to go to these dinners about once a week to enjoy each other ' s company and jokes .

The season is continuing with the next meet on 1 / 20 / 2023 and the next home meet is on 2 / 3 / 23 starting at 3:45 . To see more dates visit the CIAC website . They are hoping to grow the team and the bonds to grow closer and finally , to see some more spectators .
