I would like to thank the Dumbrell Family for inviting me to write a tribute about my good friend , Garry Dumbrell . I have known Garry for over 20 years , as a client of Stannards Accountants . In that time , he has been very generous to me , and more recently , also to my family . His and Lisa ’ s generosity has included being invited on a V8 Supercar lap with Paul at Calder Park Raceway , being invited to the 2018 Brownlow Medal , and being invited to the 2018 Melbourne Cup together with my wife , her sister and my son and his girlfriend . It was a fantastic day which we all still remember fondly . Garry ’ s marquee winning the best marquee . My son backed a few winners that day and still wears his lucky Zebra Capital cap ! More recently , Garry has also been inviting me and my family to his MCG corporate box to watch AFL games . As a client , I always enjoyed my meetings with Garry , and his various stories about his business history , and his plans for the future , and sharing our family interests . Garry was a very caring , generous man and would do anything for his family . Rest in Peace Garry , you will be sadly missed . Frank Jaenicke
I ’ m very honoured to have shared your world for a while . I never imagined that a November day in 1993 would change my life . We shared so much over the next 28 years , so many laughs , some tough times , and a few tears along the way . I didn ’ t know it until many years later , but you were my inspiration , my very dear friend . You taught me resilience , to work hard & but most of all to have fun along the way . You changed so many people ’ s lives with your generosity , your big heart & your honesty . I will miss you deeply GD . Sambuca will never taste the same without you . Rest easy . Much love .
