At this stage the learner should be able to deal with traffic with assistance.

Eco-Safe Driving

To develop an understanding of why eco-safe techniques are important and the need to incorporate them in their driving style.

The scenario sets out to develop an increased awareness of the impact of vehicle use and how to reduce this impact by the use of appropriate strategies.

Scenario

Phase 1 (In car) Duration 3-5 minutes max

Towards the end of a lesson the instructor should ask the learner to complete a mind map of possible environmental issues linked to vehicle use. The thoughts of the learner should be recorded on the workbook.

Phase 2 (Self-Learning)

Once the list is completed the learner should be asked to consider was of reducing the vehicle impact/carbon footprint ready for the next lesson.

Phase 3 (In-car) Duration 3-5 minutes max

At the beginning of the lesson both the learner and the instructor should discuss the options identified in Phase 2 of the scenario. This discussion will aim to help the learner to identify how eco-safe techniques are important in minimising the environmental impact of vehicle use.
