CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION

Up to two points are available for designing to reduce the opportunity to track in contaminants. K1.1. Individual Entryways( 1 Point)
One point of credit may be given for designing and building a deliberate and obvious hard surface area at the home’ s main entrance. This area must offer room for occupants and visitors to comfortably take off their shoes and include a specifically designed and permanently installed assembly( such as shelves, drawers, cubicles, etc.) for shoe storage that is overtly obvious to visitors. A permanently installed bench or shelf with shoe storage on the porch meets this measure.
Coat closets do not qualify for this measure. A bench and permanent walk-off mat or grille are recommended, but not required, For the purposes of this measure, carpet in entryways is prohibited. K1.2. Building Entryways( 1 Point) This measure applies to multifamily only.
One point for having a permanent Walk-Off Systems Are Provided at All Main Building Entrances & In Common Areas( 1 Point)
A deliberate and obvious hard surface area is included at every main entrance to the building( s). A built-in, permanent walk-off mat or grill( for a minimum of 6 feet of continuous travel) is provided at the entrance to the building.
VERIFICATION
Field Verification: The Rater must complete field verification and take representative photos of flooring and the storage area.
INTENT To improve indoor air quality by reducing the spread of outdoor contaminants throughout the home.
ZERO-VOC INTERIOR WALL AND CEILING PAINTS
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION
One point of credit may be awarded for the use of zero-VOC interior wall and ceiling paints. The paints must emit less than 5 g / L VOCs regardless of sheen. All interior paints and primers must meet the specified threshold.
