INTENT
To promote recycling efforts, reduce pressure on landfills, and reduce the need to harvest new resources. To encourage the recycling of asphalt and concrete in particular, due to high demand for recycled aggregate in the construction industry.
RECYCLED CONTENT AGGREGATE
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION
One point of credit are available for using aggregate with a minimum of 25 % post-consumer recycled content by volume for walkway, driveway base, and roadway.
Post-industrial( pre-consumer) recycled content is counted at half the rate of post-consumer recycled content.
VERIFICATION Field Verification: Representative photos are recommended, but not required.
Documentation: The Rater will collect site aggregate calculations noting the recycled content aggregate on supplier invoices or specifications.

A4. HEAT ISLAND EFFECT REDUCTION( NON-ROOF)
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION

One point of credit is available for implementing any one of the following sets of practices:
� Incorporate light-colored materials in at least 50 % of the site’ s impervious area( e. g., walkways, driveways, plazas, and parking areas), excluding the building footprint. The material must have a solar reflectance greater than 0.3 or a Solar Reflectance Index( SRI) greater than 29 %. Uncolored concrete with or without any proportion of fly ash and / or slag may be assumed to have a solar reflectance of 0.3 or SRI of 29 %.
� Design and install overhangs, shading elements, trees, and shrubs( or preserve existing trees and shrubs) to shade at least 50 % of sidewalks, patios, and driveways within 50 feet of the house( based on noon on June 21 at 15 years’ growth).
