Note: In calculations for compliance, construction and demolition waste includes green waste and existing structures.
A2.1. Mandatory Waste Diversion( Required)
The project must meet the CALGreen mandatory measure requiring diversion of 50 % of the C & D debris. Additionally, the project must comply with the following:
� All concrete and asphalt must be diverted to the recycling facility. � Documentation for 50 % diversion of all C & D, by weight, must be reported. � Mixed-use facilities must specify their annual average diversion rate dated within one year of project certification submittal.
Note that all diversion rates must be based on weight, not volume. A2.2. C & D Waste Diversion( Including Alternative Daily Cover)( Up to 4 Points) Credit is available for diverting a percentage of the remaining waste, as follows:

Divert 50 % of remaining waste— 2 Points Divert 65 % of remaining waste— 4 Points
A2.3. Third-Party Verified Recycling Rates of Mixed-Use Waste Facility( 1 Point)
Credit is available for use facilities that have certified diversion rates by the Recycling Certification Institute an approved equivalent program.

Documentation: Prior to construction, the builder, developer, or project team must submit a debris recovery plan that includes anticipated debris streams, method of documentation, and the planned hauler or facility. The Rater will submit this form to Build It Green with the initial project application. Acceptable forms of this plan include any one of the following:

The completed Pre-Construction Debris Recovery Plan worksheet A C & D form required by an enforcing agency( as referred to in CalGreen) or regularly used by the builder, dated within one year of the construction start date
After construction, the builder must provide the Rater with a report( that is, a Post-Construction Debris Recovery Statement or equivalent C & D documentation) documenting the achieved diversion rates. Supporting documentation may include any of the following as appropriate:

Hauler load tags Project waste tabulation, supplied by the local waste authority Diversion / waste facility receipts Average recycling rates for the local facility from the local waste authority
Note: When a mixed waste load is brought to a facility, the facility rate for recycling mixed C & D must be used, and not the overall recycling rate or commonly reported rate for the facility.
