J Building Performance and Testing J2.16. Programmable Thermostat/Temperature Control in Common Areas and Each Unit (0.5 Points) This measure is available for partial credit. J2.17. 14 SEER, 11.5 EER Air Conditioning Unit in Common Areas (0.5 Points) Note: This measure applies to multifamily projects only. Replace existing air conditioning units with 14 SEER, 11.5 EER units. The unit must be designed to Manual J to ensure that it is sized correctly. Indoor and outdoor units must be matched using ARI standards to obtain correct SEER and EER requirements. J2.18. Temperature Modulation Control on Boiler (0.5 Points) Note: This measure applies to multifamily projects only. VERIFICATION Field Verification: The Rater will conduct field verification and take representative photos of energy conservation features. Documentation: The Rater will collect appropriate documentation and relevant testing results from the appropriate installers/professionals. INTENT To upgrade an existing home for energy efficiency using several simple actions. J3. ENERGY BUDGET BASED ON YEAR CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Points are calculated in Data Collection based on performance. The building must meet the energy budget based on the vintage of the original building. The improvement thresholds were based on cost effective improvement for a variety prototypes. Use the software to evaluate whether or not the home meets the GreenPoint Rated Index. The Energy Budget is based on the GreenPoint Rated Existing Home Energy Budget Thresholds. The budget is based on insulation values for walls, ceilings, and floors; high efficiency furnace; windows; and HERS verification measures, such as blower door test and duct leakage test. See the GreenPoint Rated Existing Home Energy Vintage Thresholds in the Appendix for additional information. The home is not required to have all measures in the Energy Budget Threshold installed, but rather must meet the budget based on the measures for the appropriate vintage. Single-family projects require duct testing and blower door test results. The blower door test must be performed using the ASTM standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage Rate. Verifying the energy consumption budget requires the Rater to collect the required data using the GreenPoint Rated Existing Home Energy Field Data Sheet or equivalent worksheet.
