DOWNSIZING IN AUSTRALIA
Bill had lived with Janette in the California bungalow home they
had purchased when newlyweds and there was no way he was
leaving it. He told Bruce that they were going to have to take
him out of there in a box.
Well, that they nearly did!
Over the past 12 months Bill and Janette had started to decline
rapidly. In the last six months Janette had developed heart
problems and struggled to get out of bed or move off the
couch. She very rarely went outside. The local nurse would
visit her every second day to make sure she was taking her
medicine. Bill kept an eye on her, but Bruce had to keep an eye
on the both of them.
Then one day Bill had a turn and hit the floor in the kitchen,
lying there unconscious. Janette was stuck on the couch and
