Downsizing in Australia - Mark O'Shea | Seite 29

Dean Lupson Basically, Bruce nearly had a full-time career looking out for his parents. Bruce had his own family, his own small business and he had cared for Bill and Janette for over 10 years, but he would never disclose how he was coping or NOT coping. He did not want to influence his parents. So he never discussed with his father and mother the options of downsizing or moving to a retirement village. He knew how proud Bill was, so there was never a thought of it. Bill had worked two jobs most of his life, so his kids could have everything he never had. Growing up in the outer metro suburbs of Melbourne, he had endured a depression, a world war, and the Vietnam War. He had grown up on rabbit and stew. The family never had much money and everything they caught or shot they ate. It was cheaper than buying food back in those days. 029
