have the strength. Bill was lying there in front of her and she
couldn’t help. Bruce arrived after work to find his father on the
floor suffering from a severe stroke and his mother sitting there
helpless and in severe shock.
The ambulance arrived and transported Bill to Emergency
where they saved him. Some several hours later Janette also
went to hospital and there they both stayed.
Bill never recovered from the stroke and never left hospital.
His condition took a turn for the worse three weeks later and
he passed away in hospital. Janette only lasted another three
months—losing her husband of 50+ years had taken away her
will to live.
Bruce has never spoken about the day he had to save his
father’s life, but I know it affected him deeply.
