From the coastal fishing community of Milbridge to Eastport and all points between , the byway stands as a link between the people , places , and culture of an authentic DownEast Maine and those who travel along it . Visitors are encouraged to soak in the history and wild beauty of the region and attend local events and celebrations .
Wreaths Across America in Columbia Falls is known for its annual donation of wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery , and home to a museum showcasing US military items .. Stop and explore Cutler Coast Public Reserved Lands ’ 12,234-acre expanse of blueberry barrens , woodlands , and peatlands , plus 4.5 miles of headlands interspersed by pocket coves and cobble beaches . Running from Cutler to Lubec , the lands cover much of the Bold Coast . On the way to Eastport the route passes through tiny historic towns of Dennysville and Pembroke that date back to the 1700s .
