SUMMARY
The chart below summarises our typesetting
guidance, with point sizes supplied for A4.
Further detail for A5 and 1⁄3 A4 headlines is
shown on page 5.7. Please adjust accordingly
for other formats.
These sizes are recommendations only.
Adjustments can be made to suit the application.
LETTER SPACING
SMALLER TEXT
Headlines can use up to –25 letter spacing.
The Science of Care Proof Point always has
an added +20 letter spacing. Please note,
each unit of the +20 or –25 letter spacing
is equal to 20/1000 of an em.
Picture captions, page titles and page numbers are
all supporting forms of copy. Each of these should
be the same size or smaller than the body copy.
Keep a balance of the use of upper case and
sentence case but always maintain legibility.
Smallprint should be no smaller than 6pt.

* 9pt bodycopy and sub-headings on 12pt leading
is the preferred sizing. However there is flexibility
to adjust the point size from 8pt to 9.5pt – whilst
keeping the leading between 2-3pt larger than the
point size – to suit the amount of text needed in
the application.
