What sacrifices have you had to make to do what you love? Tom – I think I’m quite lucky as I work in the music industry full time, but the biggest sacrifices are monetary. At the end of the day if you play in a young band, especially metal, you’re not likely to make an awful lot of money. Who did you get your musical talent from? Tom – I often wondered that myself because neither of my parents are musical at all. I did some research about five years ago and learned that my granddad was a choir leader and an uncle of mine was a talented musician too. Sadly I never knew either of them. One regret I have is not learning from them when I was younger. How did you come up with the name of the band? Tom – Our guitarist came up with it, we felt it was quite fitting for the band as we liked the idea of equal balance between the violent and the melodic. Where can people find out more about the band? Tom – facebook.com/akarusayami gets updated nearly every day, head on over and say hi! What are your goals for the future? Where do you hope to be in 2 years? Tom – We’re actually working on a new record as of right now, which is sounding fantastic. It’s a bit of a change for us, but on the whole we’re really loving the direction. It’s much more consistent than our last record and I’d say it’s our best work yet. Working title for the record is “Singularity”. Two years from now I’ll probably be coming to the end of the promo cycle for the new record! *Laughs* What recording studio do you use? Tom – In the past, our old guitarist Damian Lee did all our recording but now our guitarist Tom does all the recording. That said, we’ll be recording drums with Ian Boult at SOAN. As for his gear, I couldn’t tell you what he uses. If i grabbed your Ipod from you, what would i find you listening to right now? Tom – As of this second, the new Ministry record “From Beer To Eternity”. I’m a bit gutted Ministry are calling it a day, I’ve been a fan since “Animositisomina”.
