We need less bags going to landfill -Agree. Encourages recycling. -Disagree -Whole heartily agree -Agree. Makes more aware of the waste. -Agree- why not? people will recycle their bags -Agree, however companies should change to paper bags as they are free. -Yes and no, it's made me think do I need a bag? But can be inconvient when you've forgotton your bags! -Disagree just another way to make money out of people!! -Agree, means less waste -I disagree with it because it's an inconvenience but I can see what it's trying to achieve in the longer term. However, let's imagine you're purchasing a key wardrobe piece or a statement dress for the -Christmas season, for example; would you want to be putting a £100 silk/organza/sequinned dress/scarf/jacket into a bag which has been used x amount of times for x amount of items? There are far more carrier bag options (materials) which could have been trialed before introducing the 5p charge. -Yes, makes people think twice -Agree as it reminds you to bring bags -I think it's made a huge impact but it has made consumers more conscious of how much a bag can carry and that really they don't need 10bags but one most of the time so it helps reduce waste and make people think more practically. I think it's good for younger generations and they will grow up conscious of waste -yeah - it is encouraging reusing bags we already have and it its not really that difficult a change to make in order to make a huge difference -Yes definitely, it will make is consider bringing a bag from home. -I agree, however like the fact some retailers e.g John Lewis get around this using paper recyclable bags making it easier and better for the customer. -Agree, it encourages people to reuse bags and isn't financially punishing at 5p. -Agree at supermakets but would like fashion shops to provide paper bags. -Yes I agree to help reduce the waste of the plastic carriers. But I feel they need to all start using and possibly even charging for paper bags instead. -I disagree with the 5p law for a plastic bag because you can use your own bags anyway. It's not like they run out of money -Yes, because it reduces the amount of plastic going to landfill sites as people will decide to reuse their bags rather then spending money on a new one. It also makes people think before putting their plastic bags in the bin. -I agree for food shops but I think where you buy your clothes you should get a paper bag XXI
