-Yes, it makes you more likely to make an effort not to waste carrier bags
-Agree due to the amount of waste generated by plastic packaging
-Agree, and i think that all bags sold should be either a bag for life style or made of biodegradable plastic.
We need less bags going to landfill
-Agree. Encourages recycling.
-Disagree
-Whole heartily agree
-Agree. Makes more aware of the waste.
-Agree- why not? people will recycle their bags
-Agree, however companies should change to paper bags as they are free.
-Yes and no, it's made me think do I need a bag? But can be inconvient when you've forgotton your bags!
-Disagree just another way to make money out of people!!
-Agree, means less waste
-I disagree with it because it's an inconvenience but I can see what it's trying to achieve in the longer term.
However, let's imagine you're purchasing a key wardrobe piece or a statement dress for the -Christmas
season, for example; would you want to be putting a £100 silk/organza/sequinned dress/scarf/jacket into a
bag which has been used x amount of times for x amount of items? There are far more carrier bag options
(materials) which could have been trialed before introducing the 5p charge.
-Yes, makes people think twice
-Agree as it reminds you to bring bags
-I think it's made a huge impact but it has made consumers more conscious of how much a bag can carry
and that really they don't need 10bags but one most of the time so it helps reduce waste and make people
think more practically. I think it's good for younger generations and they will grow up conscious of waste
-yeah - it is encouraging reusing bags we already have and it its not really that difficult a change to make in
order to make a huge difference
-Yes definitely, it will make is consider bringing a bag from home.
-I agree, however like the fact some retailers e.g John Lewis get around this using paper recyclable bags
making it easier and better for the customer.
-Agree, it encourages people to reuse bags and isn't financially punishing at 5p.
-Agree at supermakets but would like fashion shops to provide paper bags.
-Yes I agree to help reduce the waste of the plastic carriers. But I feel they need to all start using and possibly even charging for paper bags instead.
-I disagree with the 5p law for a plastic bag because you can use your own bags anyway. It's not like they
run out of money
-Yes, because it reduces the amount of plastic going to landfill sites as people will decide to reuse their
bags rather then spending money on a new one. It also makes people think before putting their plastic bags
in the bin.
-I agree for food shops but I think where you buy your clothes you should get a paper bag
