-I agree. It encourages people to use less and be more responsible, although the money should always go to
charity and not the companies.
-Completely agree, it forces us the consumer to stop being lazy and carry a Couple of bags!
-I agree - it should encourage people to use their own bags, but also think that the 5p bags should be paper
as they would actually biodegrade. Plus paper ones are a nightmare to carry (most have no handles) so
again this should encourage people to bring their own :) maybe they should use a bag credit - 5p back per
back you bring from home and use at the store!
-Agree-- it makes consumers consciously consider their usage (and wastage) of plastic bags.
-Agree. Force people to re-use their bags & not waste them by throwing them away.
-I agree, as doing this will reduce the amount of people purchasing more bags because they might feel it's
unreasonable to pay for them and hopefully increase people using their old bags
-If the 5p charge cuts down on waste it can't be a bad thing.
-Agree because it stops you from keep buying bags
-Agree! We'll overdue. It emphasespecially the need to reuse things
-agree although i think fashion stores shouldn't have branded bags no more if we have to buy them
-I do agree when i remember to take my shopping bags!!!
-Disagree. Retail plastic bags are there to promote the store. Everyone should switch to paper bags. Primark for example have paper bags that are fully recycled, and no cost to the consumer
-Agree, because plastic bags take years to break down and close to nobody reused them before. Now we
can regulate and control how many plastic bags end u p in landfill
-No it's ridiculous why don't they just give bags away that ca be recycled
-I do agree with it in big supermarkets but not in clothes shops. We need food to live, and we know we are
going shopping to buy food so there is no excuse not to take bags. But I think having to take bags when
clothes shopping would be ridiculous
-Encourages people to reuse bags so therefore I agree.
-I do agree with it but I think more retailers should use bags made of recyclable materials so they can be
recycled and also not have to be paid for.
-We have had a bag charge in Wales now for many years and I think it's a good incentive for people to
reuse the bags they already have.
-I agree with it as plastic is detrimental to the environment, however it is slightly annoying when you don't
have a bag with you as clothes do need protecting as they can stain.
-I do agree - it will help reduce plastic wastage and the amount that is destroying the environment - just
look at Wales track record of how successful this introduction has been.
-Disagree , if you are shopping for many things you are out in a position where you have to buy bags
-I agree wholeheartedly. As consumers we have been guilty of generating vast amounts of waste plastic.
Experience in areas where the 5p charge has been levied (eg Wales) has shown a massive decrease in use of
plastic bags.
-Strongly agree. I feel it should be even more expensive. The affect plastic has on our oceans alone is disgusting and abhorrent.
- With super markets i think its really effective because more and more people are remembering to bring
in their bags. A lot of their bags are proper straw ones rather than plastic. - However with retail, i think
its causing a bit of a problem. I work in retail and often consumers are still forgetting their bags and end u
buying one anyway. I think their should be more advertisements round store and on the tv to remind people to recycle their bags and not keep buying them.
-I do agree. We can all buy reusable bags, rather than paying 5p for a throw away one. It is inconvenient at
1st, especially if you don't remember to take any bags with you, but we will all get used to doing it. Each
person probably only uses 5 or 6 bags a week on average but when you multiply that by the number of
shoppers every week it soon amounts up to an awful lot of waste.
-Agree as the money goes to charity
-I agree with it as the proceedings go towards charity and 5p isn't exactly expensive.
-I agree with this because it reduces plastic waste
