C. Its vital we make God’s promises, principles of our Lifestyle. All you & I have is because of God. We must again believe what’s on back of our money “In God We Trust”. If we want to make heaven, we must do life God’s way & lay up treasures in heaven. Also if we want to be blessed as a home and nation…we need to pray and support Israel since God said in Gen. 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses Israel, I will curse”. Wanting the blessings of God, our nation’s first President George Washington compiled “17 rules of life” that he determined to follow:
#1 – Act at all times as if in the presence of God. Make it the great object in all things to please Him.
#5 – Daily read, with deep attention and fervent prayer, a portion of the Word of God, for the purpose of understanding, believing and obeying it.
#14 – Look to the Holy Ghost, as the author of all good in man. Seek habitually His teaching, His illuminating and purifying influences, that He may dwell in you as His temple and take full possession of all of your powers and talents for Him.
D. Its vital we value our Freedom because getting it wasn’t cheap. It involved Jesus taking 39 stripes, being spit on, having a jagged crown cut open his head, nails pierce his hands & feet, and hanging suspended for 6 hrs. between heaven & earth. Rom. 5:8 reveals “God demonstrated His love toward us, that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.” Isa. 53:5 says Jesus “was pierced through for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities: the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed…. What
Jesus did was not cheap! Also the price paid by 56 of our Nation’s founders/signers of the Constitution plus what our soldiers have done for our freedom has not been cheap! Five signers of our Nation’s Declaration of Independence were captured by the British as traitors, tortured & died, 12 had their homes ransacked & burned, 9 died from wounds and 2 lost their sons in the Revolutionary Army, all 56 endured hardships of various kinds. In the past 250 years since July 1776, our armies have gone forth unwavering in the cause of freedom and 1.2 million brave soldiers have paid for our liberties with their blood. III. LASTING LIBERTY REQUIRES US TO GIVE UP PASSING THINGS
A. We can’t afford to hold onto stuff that keep us from God. In the days of Spiritual Awakening in America, those who didn’t practice faithful church attendance & financial giving, found their businesses were avoided and their character questioned. They based this spiritual accountability on I Cor. 5:9-11 (read it)! But as materialism & Sunday work hit this land, the American church like Israelites of old, forgot God who brought them to this New World and prospered them. Evolution Darwinists began to seize control of public education & prosperity inventors claimed “work” was the source of wealth. There are many in hell who would love another chance to forsake the temporary glitter of earthly things they got bound by, to get eternal glory of living in God’s presence.
