SPIRITUALITY AND FAITH

not look to God. We see this in the Caesars of Rome in Paul’s day. Also the Old Testament shows the inability of kings & governments to deal with attacks of famine, pestilence & armies. The Bible shows unbelievable miracles that happen when people looked to God instead of kings, politicians or government! If we are to be a “Nation under God”…it is vital that our values are remade in the “image of God”, possessing “the mind of Christ”. We must side with candidates and party platforms that uphold Godly values of Life of Elderly & Unborn, Religious Freedom and Traditional “One Man/One Woman” Marriage. Because of this…

II. ITS VITAL WE GET OUR LIVES RIGHT WITH GOD

A. Its vital we get our lives right with God and pray God to turn the hearts of leaders & influencers in this land to God! The Bible says "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Prov. 14:34). Religious freedoms are being stripped away. Jesus tells us as Christians in Matt 5:11 & 13, that we are to be "salt & light”, preserving our culture by upholding what is good & right! The prayers we pray and decisions we make in voting booths in the primaries and upcoming November election for good or for ill, will have repercu ssions in government control, Congressional laws, appointed judges, and values our children will learn to embrace for years to come. God has given a solemn promise (II Chron. 7:14) "If my people, called by my name, will humble themselves & pray & seek my face & turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, will

I hear from heaven, will forgive their sin & heal their land".

B. It’s vital we respect and guard the freedoms we have! Satan is the real “thief” of freedom. He does his best to take your home, job, innocence, family, spiritual integrity and your very soul. Not too long ago, jurors were required to believe in God, teachers to read from the Bible, and ‘the Lord’s Day’ was a religious observance. During the Revolutionary War when American printers lacked paper and type, Congress on Sept. 12, 1782 endorsed a resolution for Philadelphia publisher Robert Aitken to print 10,000 Bibles for students for use in schools” stating: “the United States in Congress assembled, highly approve the pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitken, as subservient to the interests of religion… and being satisfied from the above report, of his care and accuracy in the execution of the work, they recommend this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States.” With congressional endorsement, Aitken’s Bible was the first confirmed English-language Bible published in North America. We should restore reading of the Bible in our homes & encourage our students to take them to school! To stay in God’s Word is a choice we must make every day, for Jesus then said then “you are true disciples of Mine”. In John 8:32 Jesus goes on to say “you will know the truth, and the Truth will make you free!” The Bible was book the Founders quoted the most in establishing our Nation’s documents. The Continental Congress paused for prayer often in the writing of those documents and Thomas Jefferson when President, got on his horse on Sundays down Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House to the Capitol for weekly interdenominational Christian worship
